Dual screens, when i first got them it was a novelty, and i rarely used my second screen, however now i find it very very difficult to live without them.

Guild Wars, maximized will not let you move your mouse over to the other screen, and thus it has to be run in windowed mode. Other games however (WoW is one for example) WILL let you move your mouse over onto the other screen, it varies from program to program.

If your going to use two monitors get 'Ultramon'. This handly little program adds a taskbar to the second screen, as well as allowing you to have dual screen wallpapers and easily switch programs from one monitor to the other, or extend them over both. The program is a trial, and runs out after 30 days, after which i just re-install it.

Performance wise i use a 8800 GT, and can run all my games at max, TF2, 16x AA etc and it runs fine. My old card a 7600 GTS was fine at running dual screen too, allowing me to have med-high graphics.

Enjoy your second screen, because soon you won't be able to live without it.

You can't run Dual Monitor's in SLI?

I figured the contrary.. that you would be able to support up to 4 (Assuming your card's have Dual DVI ports, all do now anyways.)

No, you cannot. You can run a dual linked DVI monitor, but not 2 independent monitors. Why you ask?

SLi works by using both (or 3 or 4) cards to render a section of the screen.

In 2-way SLi, the top card renders the top part of the screen (56.3% on average) while the bottom card renders the bottom half of the screen (46.1% on average). Thus, if you tried to do dual independent monitors, you would have one monitor displaying the top part of one screen, and the other monitor displaying the bottom part of the other screen.

A great big one that's too big for one GPU to handle, basically.

(That's a true statement )

Ohh.. wow, yeah I could believe it!

But then, with one that big, having two monitors would be moot.

I wonder how big? I'd figure a single card could handle up to like.. a 26 inch monitor? Needless to say, that is money I don't want to spend!

I think that 26" is about the limit. Anything bigger is going to benefit from dual linking.

Boy, am I going to be embarrassed if I'm totally wrong about this - I'm off to research the intarwebs...

That.
